It's rather muddy, as to be expected in Rotorua, but at least there is a waterfall to wash yourself. Find the entrance of the roadside where the bush has been cleared. Out of all the hot springs in Rotorua, this the muddiest, but guess what? The final free hot pool location in Rotorua is once again found out near Wai-O-Tapu on the road out towards the famous Lady Knox Geyser.
As the name suggests, there is a waterfall that feeds into the geothermal waters and it's a cool little spot to take a soak in the geothermal waters. It's called Waterfall Spout Bath Not to be confused with 'Hot'n'Cold' pool on the same loop road (what we used to call the Secret Spot or The Bridge), which is overrun with tourists at all hours, this is secluded, enclosed, and around waist deep at the deepest spots. Bit muddy, but fuck, it's Rotorua, everything's muddy.

Hot & ColdI was going to try to find the Waterfall Spout Bath next because I'd gotten some GPS coordinates from another backpacker online. Basically, you keep going to Wai-O-Tapu and take the Waiotapu Loop Road (paved, yay!) to a road called "The Avenue" which leads to Lady Knox Gyser (on Google Maps, easy to search). The intense geothermal activity in Rotorua means there is no lack of thermal pools.
